Research Focus
| Our work in applied EM frequently involves the design and
modeling of antennas or other electromagnetic structures for microwave
circuits. Since our research is mostly focused on
design optimization for new architectures, this has meant that we are
frequently faced with new devices with unique modeling challenges.
This EM modeling occasionally develops into a full-fledged research
project. For example, our work in spatial combiners led us
to develop a novel broadband planar multi-slot antenna, and we developed
our own FDTD codes (a novelty at the time) to explore this antenna
structure for active array applications. Currently our
interests include other broadband planar antenna operating in waveguide
environments, and modeling electromagnetic effects in coplanar waveguide
circuits. |
