Purchasing Electronic Components

The ECE shop keeps a stock of most widely used electronic components, including those used in the lab.   However, like any bank they do not have an infinite supply and may run out for short period of time.  Fortunately this is America in the new millenium where internet commerce and FedX are here to save you!  Here are several on-line suppliers that we use frequently:
Name Web Site
Digikey  http://www.digikey.com/
Newark Electronics http://www.newark.com/
Mouser Electronics http://www.mouser.com
Allied Electronics http://www.alliedelec.com/
Electronic School Supply http://www.esssales.com/
Arrow Electronics http://www.arrow.com/
Jameco  http://www.jameco.com/

The above sites are especially useful if you already know what you want.  If you're not sure and you need to see what is available out there, it is best to go straight to the source: the semiconductor manufacturers themselves.   Here is a list of places to find information (product datasheets, applications notes, etc.) as well as purchasing information:
Name Web Site
National Semiconductor http://www.national.com/
ON Semiconductor (Motorola) http://www.onsemiconductor.com/
NXP (Phillips, Signetics) http://www-us.semiconductors.philips.com/
Texas Instruments (Burr-Brown) link
Analog Devices (Precision Monolithics) http://www.analogdevices.com/
Fairchild Semiconductor http://www.fairchildsemi.com/

Kits and Gadgets

Some Lab kits for ECE 2 are packaged by Newark (above), others by:
Electronic School Supply   Santa Maria, CA, 805-922-6383
Thus a natural choice for replacement parts for your lab kits in an emergency!
